THE BIGGER PICTURE
22,00 €
The Bigger Picture is a 40-page illustrated picture book for readers aged approximately 5–9, with a second layer of meaning for adults reading aloud.
The story follows a curious sailor who arrives at the Sea just as it is complaining that the Sky keeps taking its water without giving enough back. Rather than correcting the Sea or offering a moral, the sailor simply listens. Only once the Sea feels fully understood does the conversation gradually widen to include the River, the Sky, and the Earth, revealing the water cycle as a metaphor for generosity, reciprocity, and interconnectedness.
The book deliberately avoids heroes, villains, and explicit lessons. Every character is right from its own point of view. The discovery is not that anyone was wrong, but that each perspective belongs to a larger living system.
Children experience an adventure through clouds, rivers, whales, mountains, and rain. Adults often recognize something deeper: relationships, parenting, grief, generosity, resentment, ecosystems, economics, and traditional wisdom—without the story ever naming them.
Like The Little Prince, the book grows with the reader. A child may simply follow the journey of water. Years later, the same pages can reveal an entirely different story.
At its heart, The Bigger Picture explores one simple idea:
Sometimes what we give doesn’t come back from where we expect. It comes back through life itself.
